Have you ever suffered from acid reflux symptoms or heartburn then you are probably looking for ways to prevent the discomfort and burning symptoms. Learn how to prevent these attacks.

Eliminate foods and drinks known to trigger symptoms of heartburn. Follow an acid reflux diet. Foods and drinks to avoid include: Spicy and fried foods. Citrus fruits, alcoholic drinks and carbonated sodas. Chocolate has also been shown to cause heartburn so this too should be avoided.

Eat several small meals a day instead of three large meals. Eating smaller meals more frequently will cause less pressure on your esophagus.

Keep upright after eating. Do no lay down after a meal. When you lay down flat after eating a meal, stomach acids are more likely to enter the esophagus which will result in uncomfortable heartburn.
