Bacon is believed to be one of the tastiest foods in Western culture. There are plenty sites devoted to this topic. There are even fan clubs. Astonishingly, there are actually Bacon shoes (they are not truly made out of Bacon but are rather made to appear as if they have been – do an online search if you do not trust my word).

This, perhaps unexpected appeal, makes us wonder. Who invented bacon? How to cook bacon? Can you microwave bacon? How to make bacon? Can we do this ourselves? Which are the best bacon recipes? Is Bacon Healthy? Why do people love it so much?

Fortunately, the internet is a wonderful place to look for resources for such information. A quick search shows that Bacon is simply cured meat that is prepared from various parts of a pig. There are many types of bacon which come from different sections of the pig (its belly, its side, its loins, its shoulder and even its cheeks). Furthermore, there are lots of methods of preparing it: it can be smoked, boiled, fried, baked, grilled, used as a additive in a salad and in many other manners. And certainly,, bacon can most definitely be microwaved (i.e. using a microwave bacon cooker), and this is an action we can do ourselves.

As Bacon is prepared from pork (though in certain countries, non-pig based bacon-like foods are also referred to as bacon, which is in my honest opinion simply does not count), is actually not allowed to eat for followers of Judaism and Islam. Judaism considers pigs as ‘dirty’ or ‘tainted’ creatures and as such, all meats prepared from their flesh are not allowed.

I need to finish, my Spicy Bacon Pasta is waiting for me. I suggest you leave now and purchase some. You know you want to.
