Do we really want the government to be in charge of student loans? Right now the government subsidizes the private companies for their loans but it is still the private sector that is making the final determination of who gets loans and who doesn’t. Under President Obama’s proposal for government student loans, the loans would go directly from some agency to the students and the private sector would be completely removed from the equation.
