Finding a well-working and best way to learn spanish is always a concern for someone who’s taken the plunge and decided to learn a new language. The answer, of course, isn’t a black or white choice. What works well for one individual may not be as effective for another. Well, there are a number of different ways to gain Spanish speaking ability and the best way usually turns out to be the most effective method for each individual.

It’s generally recognized that the single best — though not most convenient — method for learning a language is through complete immersion. This is great if you can spend a year or more living on the Iberian Peninsula of Spain or among the people in Mexico, but it may not be available to most people, who can’t afford to take such time off from their busy lives.

The way most people have learned to speak Spanish as a second (or third, and so on) language — at least in the United States — has been the same method used for several generations, which is in the classroom. The benefit to such an arrangement is that there is a definite structure, and that classes proceed in a very logical manner.

If there’s a downside to such classroom learning models it’s that little allowance can be made for the individual within the class who might be having a bit of difficulty in absorbing the new language. Eventually, people end up frustrated and unable to learn Spanish as well as they should.
