Safety concerns should always be realized when making decisions on baby bedding purchases. When it comes to safety and quality standards, you will find that numerous child safety organisations have put out lists of requirements and recommendations for parents who are trying to pick out crib bedding. Infants are too small to protect themselves from suffocation, so there are guidelines for putting your baby to bed safely.

These recommendations advise that a baby should sleep on his or her back with no soft or loose bedding in the crib. While comforters, quilts, stuffed toys and pillows look cute, they and any other soft bedding items should never be in the crib with an infant. To meet the requirements for this guideline, you will only need to have a fitted sheet to cover your crib mattress. If using a blanket, make sure it is securely tucked in at the foot of the bed and that it doesn’t go higher than the baby’s chest.
